This New York City Carbon Challenge Progress Report for April 2013 shows that NYC must both increase its resiliency to withstand future events and take bold action to mitigate the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that contribute to climate change. The report breaks down the issues that contribute to GHG emissions and gives data and information on plans to reduce these emissions for the future.
This report is the first analysis of New York City benchmarking data collected as part of Local Law 84 of 2009 (LL84), which requires all privately-owned properties with individual buildings over 50,000 square feet (sq ft) or with multiple buildings with a combined square footage over 100,000 sq ft to annually measure and report their energy and water use.
