In accordance with the CSO Order on Consent (DEC Case No. CO2-20110512-25, modification to DEC Case No. CO2-20000107-8), the New York City Department of Environmental Protection submits quarterly reports on its actions toward complying with the Order's milestones.
The M86 bus corridor was identified as a potential candidate for Select Bus Service. Characterized by slow and crowded trips, the corridor was ranked by the community as one of four corridors most in need of bus improvements. The M86 crosstown bus carries over 25,000 passengers per day, making it the second busiest crosstown bus route and the most crowded bus per mile in New York City. The M86 connects 12 bus routes including the M15SBS, M101, and M4, and crucial connections to the 1, 4, 5, 6, B, and C trains.
Electronic hailing allows a passenger to use TLC-licensed apps to hail a yellow taxicab or SHL without the need of the driver to physically see the passenger. The purpose of E-Hail is to pair passengers with drivers that may not have otherwise been able to see each other. The E-Hail pilot program was created to test the effectiveness of hailing a cab electronically through a cellphone app. As of March 2016, the E-Hail pilot became a license and was no longer a pilot.
