Since 1948, the City of New York has been monitoring traffic flow over the 20 bridges and tunnels serving Manhattan. The 2002 Manhattan River Crossings report, published annually by the New York City Department of Transportation since 1972, presents vehicular volumes, classification, and trends for all bridge and tunnel facilities serving Manhattan.
Drinking Water Supply and Quality Reports are prepared annually by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection in accordance with the New York State Sanitary Code and the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, which require all drinking water suppliers to provide the public with an annual statement describing the sources and quality of its water supply.
This report is compiled to satisfy requirements of the November 2002 United States Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) Filtration Avoidance Determination (FAD), which requires the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to submit a comprehensive annual report on the status of the watershed protection program. Under the filtration avoidance waivers that have been in effect since December 27, 1991, DEP produces and provides an extensive schedule of other reports, data and documents to the EPA and the New York State Department of Health (DOH).
