100 displaced families will receive Thanksgiving day turkeys thanks to a donation from the Municipal Credit Union. NYC DSNY along with Assembly man Luis R. Sepulveda will distribute the turkeys to the families on November 16.

DSNY begins its annual night plow operations which allows DSNY to responsd promptly and effectively to snow and ice conditions around the clock. During the operation, a resident's recycling and trash collection times may change temporarily.
DSNY Commissioner Kathryn Harris announced the promotion of Arlana Davis to Assistant Commissioner for Real Estate. She will now be responsible for DSNY's real estate holdings which included more than 100 owned and leased facilities as well as bringing the department's plans for new facilities into existence. Arlana Davis has served DSNY for more than 30 years.
After the 5,000 runners taking part in this weekend's TCS NYC marathon cross the finish line, the DSNY will begin to collect the discarded clothing, drinking cups and other assorted debris left behind. It also lists the amount of garbage DSNY removed from last years marathon.
