The New York City Department of Sanitation has announced that Christmas tree collection will begin Thursday, January 6, 2022. Collection will run through Saturday, January 15, 2022, barring any delays that may be caused by snow events.

DSNY today announced several important steps forward in the implementation of the City’s Commercial Waste Zones (CWZ) program. CWZs will create a safe and efficient system to collect waste from NYC businesses and provide high-quality, low-cost service while advancing the City’s zero waste goals.

Santa is not the last one on the Thanksgiving Day parade route-it will be one of nearly 100 DSNY employees who are responsible for cleaning and removing the debris left behind! While parade spectators start heading home to their Thanksgiving meals, our employees are just starting to clean the route.
