To all trade waste licensees and registrants: As Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, November 5, 2023, this is a reminder that safety must be the top priority when hauling trade waste.
Dear Licensees and Class 1 Registrants: You are reminded to complete the Department of Sanitation's ("DSNY") Solid Waste and Recycling Semi-Annual
Reports for 2022, which were due on June 30, 2023 and are now past due.
To all licensees and registrants: On New Year’s Eve, December 31, street access will be restricted in Manhattan for the area:
• Bounded by West 38th Street on the South;
• West 59th Street on the North;
• 6th Avenue on the East;
• 8th Avenue on the West.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that DSNY adopts the following rule: this rule amends Section 1-08 of Title 16 of the Rules of the City of New York to require source separation of yard waste, so that yard waste must be put out separately from other waste for collection.
What are we proposing? DSNY is proposing to amend its rules relating to the use of certain receptacles for food-related businesses.
When and where is the hearing? DSNY will hold a public hearing on the proposed rule. The public hearing will take place via Webex at 10:00AM on June 22, 2023.
NYC Sanitation, in collaboration with the Partnership for New York City, launched a substantial marketing campaign to shame these "garbage" New Yorkers – litterers and dog-poopetrators – once and for all. This is the first major anti-littering campaign by DSNY in at least 15 years.
As part of the Adams Administration's commitment to long-term strategic planning that improves quality of life and creates an equitable, healthy, and resilient future, the NYC Department of Sanitation has spent the past six months studying the viability of waste containerization in NYC.
