The New York City Department of Sanitation announced that its five Special Waste Drop-Off Sites will be reopening on Saturday, July 10, 2021. The sites, which have been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, give residents a place to bring potentially harmful household items for proper disposal.

DSNY announced that in observance of Memorial Day, there will be no trash or recycling collection, nor street cleaning, on Monday, May 31, 2021. Additionally, all Sanitation Department administrative offices will be closed on Monday, May 31 in observance of the holiday.
