This evaluation examined 10 OST programs during the 2009-10 school year. These 10 programs were part of the initial 15 in-depth study sites identified in year 1. Evaluators studied demographics, educational performance, academic motivation, and family support structures of participants. Evaluators also looked at management and staffing strategies of the OST programs as well as the content of OST programming. Agency submitted date as Mar-11.

The purpose of this evaluation was to develop and administer a survey designed to explore the qualifications, role, and responsibilities of OST education specialists during the 2012-13 school year, the first year in which programs were required to include this staff position. This report summarizes findings on the qualifications of the OST education specialists, their role in supporting curriculum and lesson planning, relationships with schools, and the implementation of a continuous quality improvement process.
