The end of Daylight-Saving Time this Sunday, November 3, 2024, requires an increased focus on safe driving for all trade waste drivers as visibility worsens.
Beginning on October 30, 2024, BIC administrative violations issued on or after October 30, 2024 will be returnable to the Hearings Division of the NYC Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH). Administrative violations had previously been returnable in OATH’s Trials Division.

To all Trade Waste Licensees: New York City Business Integrity Commission’s rules state that “[a] licensee must comply with the service and other terms set forth in the written contract or oral agreement with the customer including the agreed-upon frequency and schedule for the collection of waste.
To All BIC Trade Waste Licensees: Quarterly customer data for July 1, 2024 through September 30, 2024 is due to BIC by October 31, 2024. All customer registers or claimed exemptions should be filed through the BIC Online Portal.
BIC and the NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) will hold a public event on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 11:00AM to discuss vehicle and street safety for BIC trade waste licensees and registrants and new DCAS safety requirements for companies with City contracts.
Thursday, September 5, NYC public schools are back in session. Please share these important reminders with trade waste drivers and helpers as safety must be the #1 priority during operations:
Drivers should be familiar with school zones.
Always stop for school bus lights and obey crossing guards.

BIC is alerting the industry to a phishing campaign designed to steal login credentials. The phishing emails mimic BIC emails, and reference an attached “secure document” from “ bic@nyc.gov”. These emails are NOT LEGITIMATE. BIC does not send emails from “ bic@nyc.gov”.
The Identifying Information Law requires City agencies to submit comprehensive biennial agency reports related to their collection, retention, and disclosure of identifying information and their privacy protection practices.
Safety must be the top priority during trade waste collection and hauling operations. Extra caution is needed especially during the summer months as New York City hosts many outdoor events and pedestrians and cyclists enjoy the warm weather. Safety training should always be ongoing.
To all licensees and registrants: Please be aware that NYC will host its annual Summer Streets celebrations with extended hours from 7:00am until 3:00pm each week with resulting street closures and construction embargoes across the five boroughs.
